Doncasters Precision Casting of Groton starts work on $10M extension

Jul 18, 2023Jul 18, 2023

Doncasters Precision Castings of Groton, based in Connecticut, has broken ground on an extension to deliver improved parts flow and safety, reduced environmental impact and lead times, and an increased capacity that allows the business to invest in advanced technology and local talent in the future.

The significant investment at Doncasters Precision Castings of Groton will involve building an extension to their current manufacturing facility to house three robot shell coating cells, and two final drying systems. The line will commence production in 2023, ramping up to full operating capacity in 2025.

With post-COVID-19 orders from commercial airlines higher than predicted, the new extension will double capacity of operations at the Connecticut site.

Doncasters President - Americas Jason Mays said, “As passenger flying hours, in most global markets, are now at or above pre-pandemic levels, the demand on aircraft building continues to increase. The ability of airframers to support this demand is currently being paced by parts manufacturing capacity.

“Doncasters is addressing this by adding capacity across our global footprint, including this extensive Groton development. This will ensure we meet aerospace industry demand, offering predictable and consistent service to OEMs.”
